September 21, 2011: Women In Defense: Mayvin Recognized at Annual Meeting and Dinner
(Washington, D.C.) Mayvin's Women In Defense (WID) members joined fellow Capital Chapter members and guests at the 2011 Annual Meeting and Dinner on Tuesday, September 20th, at Clyde's of Gallery Place in Washington, D.C. The event was a fantastic opportunity to network and socialize with successful businesswomen in the DC area.
During the dinner, Mayvin was recognized for their sponsorship and support of WID's HORIZON scholarship fund and the chapter's professional development and mentoring activities for members. Through sponsorships, the Capital Chapter contributes to the WID HORIZON scholarship and provides professional development, mentoring and community outreach activities and programs in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area.
To cap off the evening, guest speaker Rear Admiral Margaret DeLuca Klein (Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Five, United States Navy) spoke to attendees about her amazing career and experience in the Navy. In addition, Rear Adm. Klein offered tips and suggestions to attendees on how to achieve success in our own fields.
Formed in 2003, the Women In Defense (WID) Capital Chapter is the largest WID chapter serving more than 500 members across DC, VA, and MD. WID, A National Security Organization affiliated with NDIA, encourages women to pursue careers related to the national security and defense interests of the United States and to provide development opportunities to women already working in national security and defense fields.
